Do we still believe in the idea of a country in the 21st century? Does this kind of a political project that organises social life, creates and protects the norms, but also is a certain idea, still fulfil its duties towards society?
Recent years have been a time of growing conflicts in many areas – social, climate, geopolitical, or economical. How are countries dealing with that? In Poland we are observing a grassroots organisation of citizens that took over the tasks of governmental institutions in the face of their infirmity. Does this mean that we should start up our political imagination and think about how to act more efficiently and more democratically? What direction should the democracy of the 21st century choose, in order not to return to its 20th-century authoritarianism? Can we still fix our faith in the institution of a nation?
